Room to Inspire: Coral and Turquoise ThemeĀ

Many colleges and universities are beginning a new academic year (now or within the next few weeks) and that means students are headed back to (or heading for the first time to) the dorms! Dorm decor is something that I always found exciting..

Since it's a relatively small space, you have to get creative when decorating. Lucky for us, there are so many unique options to add personality and style to the room without taking up too much space. Above I designed a room that I think would be really nice for the girl who loves warmth and bright colors yet doesn't want anything too crazy or intense. The color-blocking and chevron print on the sheets in slightly muted colors is probably my favorite thing about this room; they're fun yet nothing too trendy or loud. Of course, butterfly chairs are a old favorite of mine, so this white one is great to have and can be accented with a colorful pillow. The rest of the pieces come together to create a playful atmosphere that can be enjoyed year-round.

What about you? What color scheme would you choose for your dorm/room?

Outfit of the Day: Spring Navy

This outfit is an example of how I've been transitioning from winter to spring this year. Sticking to neutrals and adding a pop of spring color is a great way to combine the two seasons. I really love this vest from Forever 21! It adds interest to any outfit, with its fitted structure and ombre design.

Hope you all are enjoying March 2015 so far!

Outfit of the Day: From Summer to Fall

I've been waiting to wear this t-shirt for the longest time and finally decided to this week. I really love the gold studs on this tee because they give it a really dressy and glamorous vibe. To make the look more casual and school-appropriate, I paired it with this light cocoa-colored skirt and a medium wash chambray shirt. The chambray shirt also has some really great details including the subtle ombre effect and the multi-metal studded pockets.

Anyone else really loving the backpacks this year? I saw this one a few weeks ago and knew it would be the perfect back to school/fall bag for this year and many years to come. It is a rich chocolate with roses in a muted pink and ivory. The bag has this feminine vintage feel to it that is so me. It's been such a practical thing too; it fits all my textbooks, notebooks and school supplies.

Any favorite transition outfits? Let me know what you are looking forward to, in these upcoming months (fashion-wise!)

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Outfit of the Day: Late Summer Yellow

You guys probably remember this top from this post a few months back. It is definitely one of my favorite tops because it is incredibly easy to style in a variety of ways. This outfit is my summer edition of the previous outfit, I chose the bright yellow tee to bring out the yellow in the top as well as bring attention to the other bright colors in it. To dress it up, I finished the look with my Rock&Republic pewter coated jeans that have a gorgeous metallic finish to them. I kept the same bag as before but decided to wear it cross-body because I felt it gave more of a summery feel to the outfit.

So what have you guys been wearing during this transition time? I always feel a bit confused during these transition months because fall is near but summer isn't exactly leaving (especially when you think of the weather here in California.) This outfit I feel had the bright summery feel but also a darker vibe with the metallic jeans.

What would your ideal transition outfit look like?

Outfit of the Day: Spring Pattern

This dress has been a favorite of mine since the day I bought it. I've wore it so many times that I think I may have to retire it in the near future. The dress has so many gorgeous colors including coral, magenta, scarlet, sandy beige, and dark sea green. The design is such a fun one, I have been able to style this top in so many ways and wish I had more like it.

What about you guys? What's your favorite top/dress that has made its way into several of your outfits?

As always, love to hear all of your comments, questions, and suggestions!

Outfit of the Day: Moody Spring

5/19/2014

So this is clearly not what most people think of when you say spring outfit. But this particular day was one of those moody spring days, where the sun refused to come out, clouds looked ominous, plants and trees almost wilted in sadness and not to mention the high humidity. Overall, it was a strange day. The top is the main player here with a fun print that is also conservative enough for work. It contained the three primary colors, as well as two shades of medium gray and light ivory on a black background. It has been a welcome addition to my wardrobe and I can think of so many ways to style it!

But my favorite part of this outfit is the bag! I'll be honest, for the longest time, I was never a fan of cross-body bags, I prefer the large "can carry your whole life" kind of bags. However, this one is different and I'll tell you why. It has an ultra thin strap which makes it really comfortable to sling across and doesn't make me fell like I'm wearing a seat belt. Second, it's a convertible cross-body, so it doubles as a clutch! A oversized clutch perfect for an evening out with friends, family, or just yourself.

What about you guys? What would your ideal moody spring outfit look like?

Outfit of the Day: Earthy Tones

This outfit has a very "earthy" feel to it. I love monochromatic looks, and a great way to spice them up is to mix and match various shades of a color. Mixing fabric and textures also gives more body and appeal to an otherwise "flat" outfit.  My favorite part of this outfit has to be the ballet flats. They are a pale nude color with a light pattern and gold tinted rhinestones. The cutouts make the flats more feminine and dressy which makes it a definite favorite in my closet!

What about you? Would you wear an "earthy tones" monochromatic outfit? If so, how would you style it?
