Fall is definitely a beautiful time of year with the rich colored leaves, warm sun, cooling winds, and of course all of the fall food that comes along with it! One of my favorite activities in the cooler months is walking around my neighborhood and local parks. It serves as a wonderful reminder of just how amazing nature is.

Hey guys!
So summer is winding down and schools are now in full swing (or at least most of them are). As excited as I am for college, I also sad that yet another summer has come to an end. One of my favorite things about our garden this year was the berries! They served as my favorite mid-afternoon snack for almost two months. Despite the unpredictable weather, the flavor was rich and the color vibrant. Have a great Labor Day weekend! Spring officially arrived here in California about ten days ago, but the tell-tale signs of spring have been around for much longer. I really love this time of year, the fresh air and the gorgeous colors are things I'll never get tired of.
Hopefully, next week's rain will aid us in staying green throughout the summer. Hope all of you are having a great week! About a month ago, we drove to Sanborn Park to check out the trails. It was a little gloomy at first and very humid, but after an hour or so, the skies cleared. We ended up doing a three mile hike, less than we had planned but we still enjoyed our afternoon outdoors!
This summer has been a wonderful one in the garden, full of color and a generous amount of fruits. The two that I have been the most excited about have to be the strawberry guavas and the grapes. Strawberry guavas are such a unique fruit, they are a combination of sweet, tart, fleshy and firm. They are generally small in size yet packed with a lot of flavor. A bowl of these is sure to finish fast.
Grapes are a favorite of mine on those extremely warm days where being cool and refreshed is a luxury. Grapes, especially if they are chilled, deliver that same sense of cool refreshment that say a cold glass of lemonade would, without the added sugar. What are your summer fruit favorites? There is nothing greater than being able to walk through your back door and pick some delicious fresh fruit. It's a thrill, a joy, and a blessing, one that I appreciate more than ever before. These peaches were a great welcome present from nature this summer! The flavor is amazing and the freshness of the fruit is nothing like what you get at the stores.
Hope you all are having a wonderful summer! Are any of you into gardening? If so, do you like planting flowers, fruits, or vegetables the best? Hey guys, I know it's been a while since I've put up a Natures Post, but that doesn't mean I haven't been spending time outdoors! Actually, I have been spending quite a bit of time there, so I've had less time to blog. The garden looks beautiful this year, the flowers are blooming and the fruit trees have shown a lot of potential! What about you?? Any special outdoor endeavors you've particularly enjoyed this spring?
It's been a really wonderful summer, though chaotic at times. It has been a particularly good year for the garden as well. The flowers have had their time but even more exciting is the abundance of fruits this year!! All so delicious and organic too :) So what are the highlights of your summer?
I've spent a ton of time in our garden this year, sometimes 10 hours a week. It's weird, I've been gardening with my mom for years but this year somehow it seems really special. I've looked forward to planting every vegetable, and watching its progress. The fruit trees have been so so amazingly well this year, and for that alone I am very grateful. I admit I am not a nature person (at least not when it comes to animals!) but I love spending countless hours roaming through our garden counting flowers, picking (and eating berries), looking and chasing butterflies, watching dozens of birds flock around, and of course enjoying the warm sunshine and cool breeze!
It's an awesome pastime and hobby and definitely one of the most rewarding :) So expect more posts filled to the brim with colorful photos of my beloved garden and all its wonders! |
