As always, I look forward to hearing from all of you! Hope you enjoy the rest of your week and have a great weekend!
As most of you probably know, "casual" is not the best word to describe my style. I love to dress up and wear more dressy pieces most of the time. But occasionally, I do like to wear more relaxed and "chill" items, baseball tees being one of them. I really like the cut of baseball ties and was pleasantly surprised to see the different color combinations and prints that they come in. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get any recently. If anyone has a recommendation of where to get ones similar to those pictured above, please let me know.
As always, I look forward to hearing from all of you! Hope you enjoy the rest of your week and have a great weekend!

Hey guys!
I hope that spring has gotten off to a great start for all of you! This is a post that I have been meaning to put together for a while now, but getting all the pictures together took longer than I expected. Last term, I took an introductory ceramics class. It was not my first foray into ceramics (I took a ceramics elective in middle school) but I learned more about ceramics and art in general than I expected to. It was definitely challenging as our professor has very high expectations for our work and therefore the class was a huge time commitment! (No one ever tells you that art classes require so much of time and effort!) We had four projects over the course of the term, the first was an abstract sculpture. This was our introduction to ceramic sculpture, where each of us had to make a box, sphere, and cylinder. After we made each of these shapes, we had to create an abstract sculpture with them, by cutting the shapes and putting them back together in new and interesting ways. The second project was a transformation project where we were supposed to make a common object and transform it. I chose to create a photo album and use a technique called bas relief, a form of carving, to bring the photographs in my album to life. This was my favorite project; I really love how the sculpture turned out! The glazing took forever though! Our third project was an animal sculpture, and I chose to do a starfish in its ocean environment. As a base, I created a rock, and attached the starfish, sea snails, a sea anemone, and a sea urchin. The attachments took a while, as some of the sea creatures were quite delicate and ended up deformed by the time they were securely attached to the rock.Overall, I think it turned out pretty well; I was so relieved that the sea urchin and sea anemone survived the multiple firings! The final project was a mask. Honestly, I wasn't too excited about this project; I have never been a fan of masks in general. But I chose to do a traditional Middle Eastern mask, and I have to say my favorite part was the mustache, it looks pretty realistic! Overall, I really enjoyed this class and so glad I took it! I think it is really important to take classes you are excited about in college. Obviously, you have to focus on general ed and major requirements, but if you can take a "fun" class or two a year, you definitely should. It helps break up the often overwhelming cycle of reading textbooks, writing papers, and studying for exams (even if it is a subject you love, it can be exhausting). So take a unique class, and enjoy it. It is a great way to explore a hobby or discover a new one! Once spring arrives, it is time for fresh and bold flavors, especially in the dessert department! Lemon is one of my all-time favorite flavors, especially for sweets. I have complied a few favorites from Pinterest to share with you all.
#4 and #7 are probably my favorites, Strawberry Lemonade Cupcakes sound too good to be true, maybe it is about time that I make them. Any recipe recommendations? The Lemon Cake Roll looks amazing as well. Cake rolls are an old favorite of mine and I think this one would be perfect for a spring barbecue or picnic! #3 is Lemon Meringue Fudge, a twist on the classic chocolate fudge, which is a great idea especially for people who are not chcocolate lovers (I don't fall into that category!) but I'd love to try this as well sometime soon. Hope you all have an amazing week! As always, comments, questions, and suggestions are always welcome! And if you have recipe recommendations for any of the desserts above or any other spring-time dessert, please let me know! Embellishments make everything a little bit better right? Well, at least in the world of fashion for certain people. Embellished denim shirts are a favorite of mine, particularly in the cooler months. My favorite denim shirt is one you have all seen on the blog before, a medium shade denim with pewter, silver and antique gold studs on the pockets. While the studs are not very bright or colorful, these little details are fun touches, that can serve as a substitute for jewelry and/or accessories when time or practicality is an issue. It is especially useful when creating outfits for school that are polished and put-together yet not too dressy.
Hope you all have a great week! As always, I look forward to hearing from you. Suggestions, comments and questions are always welcome! Hey guys!
So sorry I have not posted here so far this year! Since the new term began in school, I have been busier than I expected. Isn't it always fun when a class ends up being so much more work than anticipated? Anyways, hope 2016 is going well for all of you thus far! I have spent quite a bit on outerwear in the past few months (this past year actually) and am just beginning to realize why so many people love outerwear. Now to be honest, I still prefer wearing minimal layers (for comfort reasons) but we had a relatively cold December in California this past year so I was able to enjoy outwear for the first time in a while. Above, I have put together some pieces that I think would be great for any girl's outerwear collection. A printed windbreaker (#4) is practical yet fashionable especially in the wetter months. Also, we all have our hoodies (#2) and I think that a bright colored one (or two!) is a great way to insert color into the colder months. The rest of the jackets are technically not as practical but are still versatile! Would you guys wear a lace jacket? If so, how would you style it? Last week, we went to Bruxie for breakfast and as you can see, we all went for a little something sweet. I got the Chocolate Filled Liege. A liege is similar to a Belgian waffle and is described on the Bruxie website as a more dense sweet breakfast pastry with chunks of pearl sugar that caramelizes when in the waffle iron. It was filled with Belgian dark chocolate. Overall, it was delicious, the pearl sugar created a crisp outer layer to compliment the warm dark chocolate inside. The waffle itself was good as well, though I felt it could have used a minute or two more in the waffle iron.
And for those of you who prefer savory waffles, Bruxie has numerous options for you! Actually, the majority of the items on their menu are savory, we just chose to go the sweet route that day. Hope everyone is having a great week so far! Here are some "wintery" things that I'd like to add to my closet. In the footwear department, I have been looking for a pair of gray boots for a while now, but have yet to find a pair that is both practical and suits my style. As for the beige boots, I am not sure if taupe would be a better choice in terms of versatility. What do you guys think?
The teal faux leather jacket is absolutely gorgeous and would be such as great statement piece in the colder months, but I have yet to see one in person to determine whether or not I'd actually wear it. Denim skirts are making a comeback, or at least they were the last time I checked and would serve as a substitution for jeans. The lace red top happens to be one of my favorite "winter" colors and as you all know I love lace, so it's a pretty perfect combination. As for accessories, I need a new phone case, and love the ombre crystal effect on the one above. Blue stones have a snow-like quality about them and these stud earrings are a subtle way to incorporate them into any outfit. Lastly, I bought a rose gold midi ring with a similar leaf design a few months ago and thought that this silver one would be a nice addition to my ring collection. Hope everyone is having a great week! Winter is definitely on its way, California has been cooler than it has in years and rain is expected to be our guest for much of the coming season. With that in mind, I've been trying to figure out how to style my winter pieces. It has been so long since I have been able to wear a sweater in California, and now it is cold enough to layer with them! I've been experimenting with some sweater dresses and such; I hope to have some Outfit of the Day posts up soon.
Of the outfits above, I really love the ones with the patterned skirts. I have a few patterned skirts that I am looking forward to wearing in the coming weeks and months. Also, do you guys prefer long printed cardigans or just a printed coat? Obviously for those of you in places that experience extreme winter weather, a winter coat is a must, but from a style perspective? As always, leave a comment below of any suggestions of posts you would like to see here on or This, That, and the Other. Have a great week guys! Fall is definitely a beautiful time of year with the rich colored leaves, warm sun, cooling winds, and of course all of the fall food that comes along with it! One of my favorite activities in the cooler months is walking around my neighborhood and local parks. It serves as a wonderful reminder of just how amazing nature is.
Hey guys!
So sorry I didn't post here last week, college has been really hectic with so many projects and such. How has fall been treating you? Here in California, I feel like we are switching between summer and winter weather, so we haven't exactly had any fall weather yet. As you all know, I have a huge sweet tooth! Most of my favorite fall desserts have pumpkin, which is surprising to me now because I didn’t really like pumpkin as a child. Hoping to make some of these soon and share with you. Let me know in the comments below what your favorite fall desserts are. Hope you all have a great week! |
